Sams Club Marketing Tactic
November 10, 2005

Sams Club MarketingWell I just received a phone call from Sams Club. It was a recorded message telling me they are having “special” hours in appreciation of their business members and will be offering, cake, food, and refreshments for a two hour period of time. Oh, and they also stated “You can also get a head start on all your holiday shopping”. Usually recorded messages just irk me, but this one was a brilliantly done. Not only are they inviting me for cake and drinks, but they made me feel exclusive and important.

Lesson learned: Make your customers feel exclusive by doing something special for them. Doing so makes them not only feel privileged just to be a part of your business, but it also brings them closer to you, making them feel being a part of your business is something special.

For example, if you launch a new product give 25% off to existing customers, or you can include all your customers who purchased an upgrade or bonus in a special conference call just for them. You could even set up a special members area or forum on your website for newsletter subscribers only. There are many ways to make your customers feel privileged and special while they do business with you.

I am positive Sams Club will be making thousands in sales during their special business appreciation hours. I know I will be going. How can I pass on free cake and snacks!? After all I’m an Exclusive Business Member!
