RSS Subscription Buttons for Your Wordpress Blog
November 7, 2005

RSSOkay, so I just added this really cool script for placing RSS Subscription buttons to your Wordpress or other Blog.

You can see an example at the top. I used a javascript created by Chris Cherry. With a little adaptation it looks pretty good, now I am going to see if I can change it to show horizontally instead of completely vertical.

If you don’t know what RSS is or have heard it before but don’t understand it, it’s basically a way for people to subscribe to your content. Think of it as a way to subscribe to a website. Instead of subscribing to a newsletter you are subscribing to a website. Any time a change is made to the website you are notified via your RSS reader. An RSS reader is like your email program except instead of reading email you read website updates.

There are many free RSS readers out there offered by Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc. It’s actually a very convenient way to keep tabs on your favorite websites (like this one ;)) without having to go visit each one everyday.

UPDATE: I have since quit using this script as I have dedicated a separate page for my RSS feeds. However, this is still a great script and worth using.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Stay updated on future posts by subscribing to my RSS Feed.

Yours in success,
Miles Baker

As an update, I am no longer using this mod, however it is a great script for those who may find a need for it on their site.
