National Coffee Day…. Yes it’s a thing..!

Finally a day dedicated to the thing that gets you out of bed in the morning.. No not your alarm, partner, mom, dog etc, but your delicious friend called Joe, well as the Americans call it.

On September 29th we celebrate National Coffee Day. Did someone say coffee?

Gingerbread Coffee

Who needs to make a trip to the coffee shop when you can make your favorite holiday drink at home? This gingerbread coffee has everything you love about gingerbread and coffee in one delightful scrumptious drink. Don’t worry if can’t steam milk at home, warm it up slowly in a saucepan and froth the milk by shaking it in a tightly sealed jar, using a frother, or whisking thoroughly while heating.

White Chocolate Latte

For this yummy treat, all you need to do is mix white chocolate pieces with milk, 50:50, instant coffee, then heat and stir until you’ve got that rich, velvety concoction – mmmh. And to be a rebel add vanilla and almond extracts to enhance the flavor, and lastly whipped cream and a cinnamon stick for an authentic classy finish.

Peppermint Mocha

Get that irresistible, chocolatey-mint coffee at home, anytime with Peppermint Mocha. If you have a sweet tooth add more syrup for a sweeter, stronger minty flavor. Make sure you warm the milk slowly in a saucepan, if will make your drink that extra bit delicious, then froth the milk by shaking it in a tightly sealed jar, using a whisking thoroughly while heating.

Espresso Martini

Now cocktails wouldn’t be the same if you didn’t at least have one Espresso Martini, it’s the law surely…! And best of all – it’s one of those 3 ingredients magical potions.  Kahlua, Vodka and Espresso = Presto.

Honeyffee

Bee warned – this drink will bring the bees back into your home, so shut those windows. Honey Jack Daniels, brown sugar, coffee and cream. Make your brown sugar syrup by mixing equal parts of hot water and brown sugar until the sugar is nicely dissolved. Grab your cocktail shaker and combine the  whiskey, syrup, coffee, and cream, you can add ice too. And the shake shake shake..

Cloud Nine Irish Coffee

If there is one thing that came out of Irish that we treasure, apart from the Irish dancing, is Irish Coffee. A perfect pick me up that instantly warms your belly making your feel like you have indeed struck that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Grab some Irish whiskey, hazelnut liqueur, chocolate syrup and coffee, mix and taitneamh a bhaint as (that means ‘enjoy’ in Gaelic).

And lastly Coffee Cake

A delicious afternoon tea treat to go perfectly with your drink of choice above. Make sure you ice it with a nice vanilla or coffee buttercream icing, and finish it off with some walnuts sprinkled on the top.

Did you know it is thought that Coffee Cake originated in Germany?
