YPN Direct Deposit & Ad Relevancy Improvements
February 13, 2006

YPN ImprovementsThe Yahoo Publisher Network has announced that direct deposits will be coming soon, however no date has been given as of yet.

According to Jake from Crimson Light who had a conversation with Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN for short) there will be many up and coming improvements in the system such as ad relevancy as well as quicker payments.

Here is a quote from Ray Devlin, Customer Solutions, Yahoo! Publisher Network:

“There are new developments on the horizon for the Yahoo! Publisher Network. Points such as shortening the revenue verification period and increased relevance are ongoing improvements. Our publishers have also requested such additions as direct deposit as a form of payment. While we hope to have this available soon, there has been no release date indicated for this.”

It will be nice to see YPN begin to show more relevant ads on their network. This has been one of their biggest downfalls for me even though some of their ads make me more than Adsense. If they can get it together I believe it will drive up publisher revenue across all contextual advertising networks.

Google Reveals Adsense Payout Percentage
January 16, 2006

Google Adsense PayoutIn a recent New York Times Article Google states they pay out approximately 78.5% of advertiser revenue to their Adsense publishers. This is much higher than I had assumed they paid out and a fair amount in my opinion.

Reading online from user experience it seems that Yahoo Publisher Network pays higher than Adsense in many cases. I for one have experienced higher payouts on certain terms and categories with YPN than I have with Adsense, however it could be due to higher advertiser bids on YPN than Adsense. Either way, 78.5% is a huge payout for simply placing ads on your website.
