A Brief History of Miles…
Ifirst began marketing online back in 1997. At that time our dial up connection speed was 28.8k (extremely slow) and when I would download my email it would take longer than it would for me to get a snack, a drink, let the dog out, and come back to the computer. In fact, at that time I didn’t even have my own computer, I had to borrow one. I was completely fascinated with the possibility of marketing and making money online and was constantly looking for opportunities to do so.
I continued to experiment with Internet marketing while holding regular jobs over the next several years. I had a few small successes which kept me going, but overall it was a struggle and I was beginning to lose hope. That would soon change. In 2001 I received a check in my mail box that forever changed the way I thought about marketing online. As I look back now, if it wasn’t for that check I most likely would not be where I am today.
On that fateful day when I went to my mailbox there was a check from ClickBank. ClickBank is an online merchant that handles affiliate transactions for various products and services. It just so happened that about two and a half years earlier I had promoted some products through Clickbank. I had signed up with them, marketed a little through classified ads which were supposedly the hot thing at the time. Then nothing happened, nothing until two and half years later that is.
Two and a half years later I received a check for my online efforts. I received a whopping $7.38! Now, I know you’re thinking $7.38 is hardly anything to get excited about, but I thought differently. You see, the amount was irrelevant. It was how I earned that money which truly impressed me.
When I received that check it was the first time in my life I ever received any kind of residual income. I could hardly believe I made money for something I did so long ago. My ad just sat out there in cyberspace for over two years while I completely forgot about it and exerted no more effort. I quickly imagined all the possibilities of what I could do if I really devoted myself. I wondered what would happen if instead of just a small classified ad somewhere I had several websites promoting products and services for me. What could those sites earn me two and a half years from now? I realized that it was truly possible to earn residual income online, that $7.38 check made it real for me. Thus I developed my renewed motivation and drive for Internet Marketing.
Since then I have made hundreds of thousands of dollars of online profits. In fact, just two and a half years after receiving that $7 check I was receiving checks every two weeks in excess of $10,000 from the same company, ClickBank. Below is a copy of an actual check I received back in 2003.
Although it wasn’t easy by any means, over the years I succeeded. I developed several original methods and tactics that I still use to this day. Over time I also began to successfully help others achieve their Internet marketing goals through paid consulting. Helping others maximize their online success is a great feeling and I decided I also wanted an outlet to share my thoughts, advice, tips, and general marketing knowledge with others. That is why I created MarketingWithMiles.com.
