A Little Wordpress Tip
November 29, 2005

Wordpress TipThis tip not only applies to Wordpress but any blogging system where you write your posts online. Write your posts on your computer in Microsoft word or some other text editor, then copy and paste them into your blog editor.

I was just in the middle of writing a rather large post. Somehow my thumb hit the back button on my mouse. All was lost, including 20 minutes I had just spent writing the article. I have had this happen before and still yielded to follow my own common sense. Although last time my Internet connection was lost, when I went to submit the post I lost everything.

Not only will this prevent you from losing longer posts, but it will also spell-check your document as well as check for grammatical errors.

Guess I will be starting that post over again when I have more time. :)

UPDATE: Since posting this back in November 2005, Wordpress has added a great “Save and Continue Editing” button to their post writing page. I suppose I wasn’t the only one having the problem. ;)

I hope you enjoyed this post. Stay updated on future posts by subscribing to my RSS Feed.

Yours in success,

Oh boy, the horrors of losing an entire blog post. If I only had back that killer content I just spewed out. O well, it usually is better the second time around.

Sorry to say this, but I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one suffering the wrath of “erased posts”…

    Peace

I’m glad I’m not the only one that has done this. Very frustrating. An excellent tip for sure.

I can completely empathize. I’ve done that in the early days of my blogging and have been paranoid ever since.

I now type all my entries in w.bloggar (I see you’ve already mention Ecto) and can save it to my hard drive if I want to finish later or publish as a draft to the blog if I want to work on it from a different computer.
