2006 - Set Goals, Get Motivated!
January 2, 2006

New Year 2006Ihope you all had a great time bringing in the new year. I actually laid low this year, took some time away from the PC and had a delicious dinner with my family. I also downloaded and went through a goal setting guide by Tony Robbins designed to help set and achieve goals for the new year. Instead of just setting a few resolutions, I prefer to take the time to set new goals for myself, look at certain aspects of my life I want to improve, and write it all down. I also love to spend time going over what I did last year that was both good and bad. When I look over 2005 it’s amazing how much I achieved in both my personal and business life. It’s amazing how much we can achieve in a year when we plan ahead.

The Tony Robbins worksheet was truly eye opening. I went over it with my fiancĂ© and discovered many insights into what we both liked about the past year and what we look forward to achieving. You can download it from his website for free. If you are wanting to achieve some new goals for 2006 then I recommend taking the time to go through it. He has 7 steps in the worksheet which are…

  1. Get Clear
  2. Get Certain
  3. Get Excited
  4. Get Focused
  5. Get Committed
  6. Get Momentum
  7. Get Smart

Going through the 7 steps was very enlightening for me. We rarely take time to go over the past, so remembering all the achievements of the last year was very insightful.

For 2006, some of my goals for business are to build and maintain several profitable blogs. I already have 3 online and have 2 more in the process of being built. I personally love the passive income they generate and plan on doing a related product in the future helping others to build and profit from blogging. I’m also going to continue consulting as it’s a deep passion of mine and you will definitely see my rates increase throughout the year.

One idea you may want to steal from me is to use a website goal book. My website goal book consists of a notebook that has tab dividers in it. Each section is dedicated to a different website. For each site I have a page that outlines my goals for that site. These include inbound links, traffic goals, income goals, amount of content, and completion dates. I use a 7 step goal setting formula I learned from Zig Ziglar. Under each website section I also have blank pages for notes, ideas, and reminders. I go through this book daily as I work on my various sites. As I read through the goals it keeps me totally focused and on target.

Remember, what we think about most we become. If you’re not focused with a plan you will be living in reaction to whatever happens to you. I wish you all the best in 2006. So go out there, set some goals and achieve them!
